NEC's GlobalMaster software is a powerful autonomic system management solution for the Express5800/1000 Enterprise Series servers. Designed to manage the mainframe architecture of NEC Enterprise Servers, GlobalMaster delivers the ability to statically and dynamically manage all resources of the physical system resource, enabling autonomic resource allocation of processing and I/O subsystems.
Through the scripting interface, NEC's GlobalMaster has the ability to establish policies, allowing automatic reconfigure/repartition of the physical resources based on the specific business logic that IT organizations wish to implement. Dependent thresholds include:
Workload-based repartitioning |
Time-based repartitioning |
Fault-based repartitioning |
For workload-based or time-based repartitioning, GlobalMaster controls repartitioning of system resources when a pre-defined policy threshold is met or under IT management. This may occur if the processing load of a logical partition exceeds a predefined utilization level, or when a known time-based condition exists. Physical resources can be added to the logical partition without loss of processing resource for operating system environments that support Dynamic Hardware Partitioning, such as Windows Server 2008.
For fault-based repartitioning, GlobalMaster works in conjunction with the service processors of the Express5800 Enterprise Server to monitor the operational parameters of the hardware resources within
