NEC D-Series Storage Arrays
Storage growth is at unprecedented levels and will continue this phenomenal growth trend. But with today's conventional storage it is difficult to match the needs of the business. Current storage infrastructures are rigid and stove piped. Some are very inexpensive but cannot scale effectively. Others have scalability but the initial investment is extremely high and in some case prohibitive. The NEC series of Enterprise Modular Storage addresses these and other key issues facing today's IT executive.

NEC's D-Series of Enterprise Modular Storage are designed to provide enterprise performance, connectivity, capacity and availability without the high initial cost of high end enterprise systems. The D-Series can start as small as one terabyte or less and scale to over 1.1 petabytes, all non-disruptively. In addition performance and connectivity scalability is linear making sure that business response is maintained. Utilizing innovative technologies the D-Series allows availability to scale dependent upon the criticality of the applications. New feature like RAID Triple Mirror and RAID 3 double parity address availability while maintaining performance. These and other aspects of the NEC D-Series make NEC Enterprise Modular Arrays not only a good investment but a strategic one.

In addition, the entire storage offering addresses customer requirements for ease of use, low total cost of ownership, fully-tested solutions, and smoothly integrated hardware and software. NEC's storage products are designed to be deployed easily in any SAN environment, and are tested for interoperability with other storage manufacturers and supporting peripherals devices.

Technology
NEC's storage products help customers manage data more effectively, efficiently and reduce complexity. The D-Series of Enterprise Modular Storage (EMS) is built on NEC's proven advanced storage technologies. The D Series can scale from 219GB up to 1.152 PB's of capacity. Unlike previous technologies where scalability required moving from one model or architecture to another the D-Series provides a seamless and scalable path for all aspects of the storage system. These include capacity, connectivity performance as well as availability. What the NEC D-Series offers is a single and unified storage architecture that addresses the requirements of small enterprises to the largest enterprise.

Performance is achieved by utilizing ultra-high speed host fibre channel interfaces, large cache capacity, and high performance SAS high density disk drives. Business continuity is enhanced with the use of resilient RAID 6 double parity technology and RAID TM (triple mirror), which tolerates two simultaneous drive failures to reduce costly downtime. Patented Phoenix Technology automates self-recovery of failed drives by separating them from the RAID group to perform background diagnostics and can reduce the need to do rebuild by 30 to 50 percent. NEC's storage technology offers users incredible scalability and availability at an exceptional total cost of ownership.

D1-10 Storage Array
NEC's D1-10 Storage Array is an entry-level model that offers excellent performance and TCO reduction, including support for a mixed SAS/SATA configuration that meets the demands of differing quality of service requirements. The D1-10 supports four high speed 4Gbps host connections, high-performance RAID processors.
D3-10 Storage Array
NEC's D3-10 Storage Array is a mid-range model positioned for the medium sized business providing additional capacity, IOPS, and throughput to handle a greater number of hosts and larger storage requirements. Additional support for mixed SAS/SATA configuration meets the demands of differing quality of service requirements. The D3-10supports four to twelve high speed 4Gbps host connections, high-performance RAID processors.
